This is at Folsom and 16th, not 16th. Check Twin peaks in the background, Bernal Hill to the south and the row of Victorians across folsom that are still there
pedestrianist, I don't understand what you're saying... are you saying this is Folsom and 16th, not 15th? Can you give me a Google Street View link for the Victorians across Folsom that are still there?
Sorry, it's Folsom and 25th:

There's no great view of the victorians as they appear in the old photos, since the street trees now block them. But move around a little to get a good view.
Both of the old photos above would have been taken from somewhere around Harrison, or wherever the Eastern edge of the field was.
Hmm. Based on the 1899 Sanborn map, that's not possible, unless the picture predates that, which is likely. The best way to tell would be to find earlier Sanborn maps that show us that area. Garfield Square was there then, as it is now, so it's certainly possible. I looked for Sanborn maps from that time period through the SFPL site, but the volume for that area is unavailable. Will keep looking. Thanks.

Here is another view of this baseball field, most likely from the same time, and with more identifying information tying it to this probable location.
